CHESTER M. RAPHAEL, being duly sworn, says:
That I am one the applicants for intervention. I am a physician and psychiatrist duly licensed as such. I agree wholeheartedly with the statements concerning orgone energy and the principles of orgonomy, together with the use of the orgone energy accumulator as set forth in the affidavit of James A. Willie.
I was born in New York and was educated in New York City public schools. I graduated from Townsend Harris High School in 1929. Thereafter I received my Bachelor of Art degree from the University of Michigan, cum laude in 1933. I was graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, with the degree me Doctor of Medicine in 1937.
Thereafter I served my internship at Monmouth Memorial Hospital, Monmouth, New Jersey, from 1937 to 1939.
I was junior and senior resident physician at New Jersey State Hospital in Marlboro, New Jersey from 1939 to 1945 and from 1946 to 1948.
I was in the army of the United States from 1942 to 1946 when I was discharged as a Captain in February of 1946. I was psychiatrist at Eighth General Dispensary serving Allied Forces Headquarters in England, Africa and Italy. I was also psychiatrist at Convalescent Hospital at Camp Upton, New York. I am a member of the American Medical Association, the Queens County Medical Society and the American Psychiatric Association.
I specialize in psychiatry and employ all my previous training, experience and knowledge in my profession together with the very important principles of orgonomy. I have had published several articles on particular aspects of orgonomy and I have one article completed now with reference to orgonomy in an atmosphere atomic and other radiant irritants. This article will be of immense help to physicians and scientists in their understanding of the functions of the human body in an atmosphere of atomic radiation. It is based on scientific reports, studies and analysis.
The effect of the injunction in this case is to curtail and handicap me in the practice of my profession. My specialty is psychiatry and the best therapy for particular aspects of psychiatry is the application of the principles of orgonomy. At the same time, as in the case of the other scientists who are seeking intervention, the results of years of study, experiment, observation skill and ability are to be destroyed, in own case, with respect to the article I have prepared for publication, may not even be disseminated.
I respectfully suggest to the Court that such a result of this injunction is of drastic consequence to me in my profession, to scientists and to the public in general.
I respectfully pray that the application for intervention be granted, that I be permitted to intervene, all in accord with the request in Dr. Willie's affidavit.
