STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA )
COUNTY OF PHILADELPHIA ) SS:-
Charles I. Oller, being duly sworn, says:
I am a physician duty licensed to practice as such and one the applicants for leave to intervene.
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Temple University in 1931.
Thereafter I was graduated from the Temple University School of Medicine in 1935 with my Doctor of Medicine Degree. I served a one year interneship at Northern Liberties Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I was licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania in 1936.
My graduate medical education comprises a residency in psychiatry at the Philadelphia State Hospital from 1937 to 1947. At the time of my resignation, I was senior resident psychiatrist in charge of admissions. I have been at the Graduate Hospital and Neuropsychiatric clinic in the Northern Liberties Hospital from1938 to the present the time and I took a post graduate course in neurology and psychiatry at the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania in 1941.
I was certified by the American Board of Neurology Psychiatry in Neurology in 1941, and in Psychiatry in 1942.
My teaching, experience consists of being an Associate in Neurology, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
I am an Associate in Neurology, Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia; associate neuropsychiatrist, Albert Einstein Medical Center, and assistant neurologist at Philadelphia General Hospital from which later position I resigned as of April, 1954. I am a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Philadelphia Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Neurology, Philadelphia County Medical Association, American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Association, and the Medical League of Philadelphia.
Among my publications are:
"Paroxysmal Automatic Crises in Postencephalitic State,"
Archives of Neurology and Psychiatry, April, 1946;
"Oculomotor Paralysis," Clinics, 1944;
"The Psychoneuroses," Clinics, 1946;
"Orgone Therapy of Frigidity," Orgone Energy Bulletin.
I trained with Dr. Wilhelm Reich in 1947 and 1948, embracing personal therapy ( Psychiatry Orgone Therapy ); Seminars, lectures and demonstrations and laboratory and experimental work.
In the practice of my profession as psychiatrist, as Dr. Willie has pointed out, I apply those principles of medicine and science, which, to my scientific judgement and ability are best for my patients. I have found that the application of the principles of orgonomy and the use of orgone energy accumulator are such therapeutics. Accordingly I use them.
The injunction prevents me from using them and consequently prevents me from practicing my profession and earning my livelihood in the practice of my profession. In addition, as this Court is well aware, physicians, psychiatrists, scientists of all description, must if they are to practice their profession at all, exchange information concerning experiments and observation. Such an exchange of information on scientific reports is contained in the literature which the injunction here seeks to suppress and destroy.
I have a direct interest in this proceeding and my interest has not been represented. The questions of law and fact involved in the main proceeding are common to all of the applicants and I respectfully request that the injunction be vacated and I and other applicants be permitted to intervene.
I attest to this Court my belief in the scientific validity of the principles of orgonomy and the therapeutics involved in the orgone energy accumulator.
I respectfully request that the application as detailed in Dr. Willie's affidavit be granted.
