STATE OF NEW YORK )
COUNTY OF NEW YORK) SS:-
SIDNEY HANDELMAN, being duly sworn says:
I am a physician, duly licensed
to practice as such and one of the applicants in this proceeding for leave
to intervene.
I was born October 18, 1916, in New
York City and received my education in the New York City Schools.
I was graduated from New York University
College of Arts and Pure Science in 1936 with a Degree of Bachelor of Science.
I received my degree of Doctor of Medicine
from the New York College of Medicine in 1939 and licensed to practice
medicine in New York and New Jersey.
I served my interneship at the
Morrisania City Hospital in New York City from 1939 to 1941.
My post-graduate education consists
of courses with Emil Gutheil, M.D.; with the American Institute of Psychoanalysis;
and at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
I have been training at the Orgone
Institute from 1947 to date in the principles of orgonomy.
I have been a psychiatrist at the New
Jersey State Hospital, Marlboro, New Jersey from 1947 to 1949 and with
the Essex County Mental Hygiene Clinic at Newark and East Orange, New Jersey
in 1948 and 1949.
I am presently in the general practice
of medicine as a medical orgonomist.
As a physician and scientist, I find
that the injunction has hampered and curtailed me in the practice of my
profession, the earning of my livelihood and my growth as a scientist.
As a physician, it is my duty to apply
to my patients the principles and practices of science which I deem to
be in their best interests and which I deem to have the most therapuetic
value. Such are the principles of orgonomy and the orgone energy accumulator
and as such scientist, I attest to their validity.
The facts and law which apply to my
situation, my claims, my rights and priviledges are identical with those
at issue in the main proceeding. These rights and priviledges and claims
have not been adequately represented in that proceeding and I respectfully
join with my fellow applicants in the prayer for the relief to the end
that the injunction might be vacated and we be given leave to intervene.
Signed..... Sidney Handelman M.D.
