PHILIP GOLD, being duly sworn, says:
I am a physician duly licensed to
practice as such and I one of the applicants for leave to intervene.
I was born August 3rd, 1901 and from
1907 to 1914, attended elementary schools in Brooklyn, New York and Stamford,
Connecticut and at the same time I received a thorough Hebrew education.
I attended High School in Haverhill, Mass. and Salem, Mass. and was graduated
in 1918 summa cum laude. I was an English Orator.
In 1918 and 1919, I attended Harvard
College on a Price Greenleaf Aid Scholarship. I graduated from the Mass.
Agricultural College, now the University of Mass. with a Bachelor of Science
degree in 1923. From 1923 to 1925, I was principal and teacher of the Hebrew
School in Newburyport, Mass. From 1925 to 1927, I was at Teachers' College,
Columbia University where I received my degree of Master of Arts in Education.
From 1925 to 1928, I was a teacher in Hebrew Schools and in 1928 and 1929,
I was principal and teacher in a Hebrew School in Chicago, Illinois.
I received my medical education in
Berlin, Germany; Vienna, Austria and Zurich, Switzerland.
I received my degree of Doctor of Medicine
in 1934 from the University at Zurich, Switzerland.
In 1935 and 1936, I was on a general
internship at Unity Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. Thereafter, for eighteen
months, I was resident physician at the Jewish Sanitorum and Hospital for
chronic deseases, Brooklyn, New York.
I was psychiatrist at Manhattan Hospital,
Ward's Island, New York and Brooklyn State Hospital, Brooklyn, New York
in 1938 and 1939.
From 1939 to 1941, for twenty-one months,
I was resident in psychiatry at Hastings Hillside Hospital, Hastings-on-Hudson,
New York. This is now the Hillside Hospital, Queens, New York.
From 1941 to 1944, I was assistant
alienist at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, New York, New York, with work
mainly in the mental hygiene clinic. At the same time, I was working in
psychoanalysis with Dr. Abram Kardiner, New York, New York.
From 1944 to 1948, I was panel psychiatrist
for the Jewish Child Care Association and from 1944 to date, I have been
a psychiatrist in private practice in New York City, New York.
From 1947 to 1950, I had received therapy
and training in orgonomy with Dr. Wilhelm Reich, in Forest Hills, New York.
Without question, this has been the greatest experience of my life.
From 1950 to 1954, in the course of
practice in psychiatry, I have been working with orgone therapy and principles
of orgonomy.
I am the author of an article on the
orgonotic functions in a manic depressive case.
I am a member of the Queens County
Medical Society and the American Psychiatric Association.
The injunction as it stands, operates
to curtail me, to hamper me, to handicap me and to prejudice me in the
practice of my profession and in the earning of my livelihood.
The specific reasons are the same as
those set forth in the affidavit of Dr. Willie and I will not burden the
Court with a repetition of them.
I will say to the Court, however, that,
as a physician, scientist and psychiatrist, I can attest and do hereby
attest the scientific validity of orgonomy and the medical therapy of the
principles of orgonomy and the orgone energy accumulator.
WHEREFORE, I respectfully request leave
to intervene as set forth in the affidavit of Dr. Willie.
