STATE OF NEW YORK )
COUNTY OF NEW YORK) SS:-
ALBERT I. DUVALL, being duly
sworn, says: I am a physician, duly licensed to practice as such, in
the states of Tennessee and New Jersey, and I am one of the applicants
for leave to intervene in this matter. I received my medical education
at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and I received my degree
of Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine
at Memphis, Tennessee, in 1933.
I was an interne at the Highland Park
Hospital, Highland Park, Illinois, from October 1, 1933, to January, 1935,
and thereafter at the Monmouth Memorial Hospital, Long Branch, New Jersey,
from January 1, 1935 to June 1, 1936.
I have taught psychiatry to student
nurses at the Middlesex General Hospital and I have taught at the hospital
in New Brunswick, New Jersey, during the Spring semester of 1946.
My post-graduate education and experience
comprises a post-graduate course in "History of Psychiatry" at
Columbia University, New York City, given by Dr. Nolan D.C. Lewis, during
the Fall semester of 1939. From November of 1940 through June, 1941, I
attended lectures and laboratories at the Philadelphia Hospital for Mental
Diseases in neuroanatomy, neuropathology and neuroradiology.
During 1936 to 1938, I underwent psychoanalysis
and underwent restructralization in 1946 and 1947 under Dr. T.P. Wolf and
from 1947 through 1950 under Dr. Wilhelm Reich.
From June 1, 1936, to March 1, 1939,
I was Junior Resident at the New Jersey State Hospital, Marlboro, New Jersey;
Clinical Psychiatrist at the same hospital, from March 1, 1939, to July
1, 1940; and Director of Mental Hygiene Out-Clinics at the same hospital
from July 1, 1940 to January 1, 1948.
I have been Chief of Psychiatric Service
at the Mulenberg Hospital, Plainfield, New Jersey; Assistant Neurologist
in The Neurology Clinic, Fitkin Hospital, Neptune, New Jersey; and Consultant
Psychiatrist at the Monmouth Memorial Hospital, Long Branch, New Jersey.
I have also been Out-Clinic Neurologist at the same Monmouth Memorial Hospital
and attendant to nurses in psychiatry at the same hospital.
In addition, I have been the Consultant
Psychiatrist of the Mental Hygiene Clinic at Rutgers University, New Brunswick,
New Jersey.
I am a member of the American Psychiatric
Association; New Jersey State Medical Society; Monmouth County Medical
Society and the American Medical Association.
I am a psychiatrist and in the practice
of my profession I employ all of my previous experience, knowledge and
teaching, as well as the principles of orgonomy.
The injunction in this case operates
to curtail and hamper me in the practice of my profession and in my development
and growth as a psychiatrist and physician.
I respectfully request that I be permitted
to intervene, along with the other applicants, all on the grounds more
specifically set forth in the affidavit of Dr. James A. Willie.
Signed..... Albert I. Duvall MD.
Sworn to before me this
3 day of May 1954.
Signed... Rose Lewis
