Guidelines for OrgonomyMail-List Discussion List

Hi Everyone!

The purpose of the 'OrgonomyMail-List ' (OML) is to provide an environment for discussions on Wilhelm Reich and Orgonomy (life energy science). PORE was involved with the creation of the original OML in July 1995. The OML is open to all to join as subscriber members and it provides an instant medium for members to send messages and or respond to others messages. English is the prefered international language but all languages are welcome as well. Messages emailed from members to the OML are modrated and then automatically sent to all other members of the OML.

If you want to also post a message for non-OML members to see, you should check out the Public Forums at PORE. The public forums are divided up into several categories related to Orgonomy. Messages sent to Pore for the public forums are posted on a web page for all on the internet to access. Positive comments and constructive criticism are encouraged.

1) - Private List

The list is a privatemail list (open without charge to anyone, however, any 'subscribe' request requires that the moderator (Jamerling Ogg - PORE) approves it first (this may take a day or two so please be patient). Unless the person has been previously removed from the list for not following the guidelines, the subscription will go through with no problem.

PUBLIC mail list vs PRIVATE mail list:
When a list is PUBLIC, anyone can subscribe or RE-subscribe AUTOMATICALLY, even if they have been removed from the list for spamming or behavior not within the guidelines of the list.
A PRIVATE list means the moderator has to authorize each subscription before they are actually added to the list. This helps to keep out people who are trying to get on primarily for mischief, flaming others, to promote their own agenda, advertising for funds or sale of merchandise, or to otherwise sow discord. Posts can be made to OrgonomyMail-List only by subscriber members and not through outside emails from others.

2) - Private Warnings if Out of Line

Private notification will be posted to subscribers who intentionally disregard the guidelines on a consistent basis, with cancellation of subscription if they persist after a warning.

3) - 'OrgonomyMail-List' List Topics

The 'OrgonomyMail-List' discussion list will focus on basic topics of : Wilhelm Reich and Orgonomy, bions, cancer, cloudbusting, medical research, orgone accumulators, orgonomic research equipment, oranur effects, Reichian and other body-mind therapies, scientific research and experimental setups, social and legal implications of Orgonomy, child rearing without armor blocks and.........

4) - Disallowed Topics

Postings to the list about mysticsm, conspiracies other than directly related to Orgonomy including patriot/political activities, and subjects which would detract from the aforementioned primary topics are discouraged. Their are many otherlists for this on the internet. Advertising selling non-orgonomic merchandise and items for yourself or for others are forbidden. You may refer within your message a web address for others to go visit and read the information elsewhere on the web.

Forwarding of other mail list messages is forbiden but you are encouraged to quote small parts of pretainent messages from outside the list if you feel they will further discussion in regards to the message that you send to the OML. Most other mail lists have their own archives. You can refer others to the web address for the archives of another mail list.

5) - Threads & Logical Progression Most important

All subscribers are requested to refrain from wandering far off topic from the original subject title of the thread they are creating or responding to.

If you feel the need to expand on the topic, please retitle your SUBJECT line.

This makes it much easier for everyone else to follow the specific subject under discussion. It also keeps the subject heading of the message relavant to the message contained within the message.

6) - Simple Courtesy & Consideration

Subscribers to 'OrgonomyMail-List' are expected to refrain from posting emails containing putdowns, insulting comments, defamatory remarks or hostile statements directed at other subscribers on the list. If you can't say something helpful and constructive or offering a new or better viewpoint, please reconsider why you feel a need to post a response email in the first place. Also, please refrain from posting short messages such as "me too", "I agree", etc. These type of messages are a waste of archive space and they offer no new or constructive information. Humor and jokes are great but they do take up space as well and distract from discussion. Please refrain from posting them as separate emails to the OrgonomyMail-List list. We need to stay focused on discussion topics.

Request for Suggestions or Improvements

Some will claim censorship because of the focused topics as listed in the preceding guidelines. Note that OrgonomyMail-List was created specifically to FOCUS on basic topics: Wilhelm Reich and Orgonomy, bions, cancer, cloudbusting, medical research, orgone accumulators, orgonomic research equipment, oranur effects, Reichian and other therapies, scientific research and experimental setups, social and legal implications of Orgonomy, and......... There are MANY other venues to post or discuss your pet interests, so please avail yourself of those avenues of expression.

History of Past and present Orgonomy Mail-list or List-serves

The original OML was created on July 08, 1995 by Tribe of Love in Brazil with cooperation from PORE. That original OML list-serve ended 95nov30.
The OML was revived on 95dec02 by the courtesy of the Spoon Collective and Shawn Wilbur with cooperation and help from PORE. This OML mail list was discontinued on 96Dec26.
On January 19, 1998 the original OML was revived on the web by PORE.
In 1998-1999 several more orgonomy mail list were created or discontinued.

1996 - January thru December The archives the OML from 1995 through 1996 were under early construction at another web site on 97feb25. The author (shribble @geocites.com) of the archive site has only listed an email address on the main page of this archive web site. Last time I checked, the archives were compiled July 1995 through February 1996 and also included the last two months of 1996.
