Subject: Specialized expertise needed for important high school biology project

To whom it may concern:

Recently, I have designed my own biology project for my Freshman year
at the Academy for the Advancement of Medical Technology. This project
is supposed to take one year to complete. For my project, I am hoping to
recreate an experiment first performed by Andrew Crosse in 1837, in
which he accidentally created mites from inorganic matter
using an electrified acidic solution and oxide of iron. I am not sure
what really happened, but that is what I intend to find out during the
course of this year. However, before I start the actual testing, I am
hoping to contact several scientists who might be able to theorize or
explain what could have happened. I understand that Dr Wilhelm Reich
performed expariments showing that certain organisms may be created from
sterile material under certain conditions. Could you please send me any
and all information you have concerning this subject? I now believe that
this may have something to do with, or could be explained by, Dr.
Reich's experiment. Also, if you can refer me to anyone who you think
might be able to help me with this subject, please Email me back as soon
as you can. I have done a moderate bit of research and I can send
whoever offers to help everything I have for reference. This is a
serious project, and I thank you in advance for helping.

Sincerely,
Ryan Creagh, New Milford NJ

The book by W Reich on this is called

THE BION EXPERIMENTS On the Origin of Life; Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1979

Reich's report on a series of biological experiments (1936-37) in which he took a highly original approach to the essential question of how life begins. The book also includes a presentation of Reich's method of thinking and investigation. ;Translated by Derek and Inge Jordan; Bound Xerox $26.95

it can be found on the internet at: http://www.rangeley.org/~wreich/Cat/xerox.html

Also another interesting book by an independent researcher is:

The Origin of Cells by Zorotovich, Betty; McCalll-Faure Press 1980 Rancho Palas Verdes, California USA This is independent confirmation of Bions experiment and more. The author was unaware of Riech's work when she did this. Available from: Williams Bookstore/ 443 w. 6th Street/ San Pedro, Calif 90731 usa/ tel 310-832-3631/ cost $23 includes shipping

For an important High School project I am doing, I will be recreating an experiment performed by a certain Andrew Crosse in 1837. While researching my project, I was reffered to Reich's book "The Bion Experiments on the Origin of Life". Even just going through the first couple of chapter, I realized that there are some incredible
similarieties between the two experiments (for those of you unfarmiliar with Crosse's experiment, he supposedly was able to create life from inorganic matter).

Although I am having trouble obtaining the materials for my project, I still would like to have some other opinions and theories on the subject. If anyone can give me some insight on the Bion Experiments, and would like to compaire them with those of Crosse, I would greatly appriciate it.

Sincerely,
Ryan Creagh
