O mal estar do homem moderno.

A Conference at The Wilhelm Reich Museum

July 15-19, 2002

Reich did not coin the term or discover the principle of self-regulation, but the concrete findings from his clinical and biological work led him to understand self-regulation as a biological process rooted in specific energy functions in the living organism. It is this knowledge that distinguishes his concept of self-regulation from all other uses of the term.

Presentations will elucidate Reich's contribution and demonstrate problems and possibilities inherent in its practical application.

Room for Happiness" Film Premier - 2002 Annual Dinner

Medical orgone therapy has helped thousands of individuals live more satisfying and productive lives. "Room for Happiness" showcases this vital form of psychotherapy that does not rely on medication to handle emotional and mental health problems. Nine different patients ranging in age from five to sixty-five, are presented in compelling sessions with their doctors. A young boy learns to handle his hyperactive behavior without going on Ritalin. A mother discovers how to cope with the loss of a son who died of a drug overdose. A young teacher in her twenties becomes able to handle the anxiety in her life. An agoraphobic woman who was afraid to leave her apartment is seen ably functioning out in the world. Many of these patients tried other therapies, but could not conquer their emotional problems until they were in medical orgone therapy. The film shows how the therapy has helped them triumph over their problems and find greater joy in their lives. Reich's views on birth and early childhood are also explored and the viewer will see one case where an exceptional child who has been in preventative treatment since shortly after birth is proof positive of how the therapy can ensure emotional health. The film makes a stunning statement about the effectiveness of medical orgone therapy.

The 2002 Annual Dinner, hosted by actor Orson Bean, promises to be a very special event this year. In addition to the elegant surroundings at The Ritz-Carlton, guests will be treated to an exciting Panel Discussion, featuring several of the Medical Orgonomists that appear in the Film.

A PUBLISHER'S RESPONSE TO BOOKBURNING AND CENSORSHIP IN AMERICA:

Roger W. Straus, Chairman of Farrar, Straus & Giroux Discusses the Publication of the Books of Wilhelm Reich

Monday - November 4, 2002 6:00 PM The Williams Club 24 East 39th Street New York City In the 1950's, the United States government BANNED AND BURNED the books of Dr. Wilhelm Reich, an Austrian physician, psychoanalyst and scientist who had

fled to America in 1939 as a refugee from the Nazi regime. This destruction of literature constitutes one of the most heinous examples of censorship in U.S. history.

Since 1959, Roger W. Straus has been re-publishing Reich's literature, in part as a forceful response against censorship and bookburning in this country. Following a screening of a half-hour biographical video about Wilhelm Reich, Straus will discuss censorship and his collaboration with the Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust to re-publish the literature of this pioneering psychoanalyst and scientist.

Contribution Requested: $75 per person to benefit the Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust Endowment Fund

For further information, contact Farrar, Straus & Giroux at (212) 206-5326 or The Wilhelm Reich Museum at (207) 864-3443 or e-mail: wreich@tdstelme.net
