Description: This class will follow the development of the work of the pioneering, controversial and innovative psychiatrist and natural scientist Wilhelm Reich in the social and political field. The continuing relevance of his work for those striving for social transformation will be pointed out, including the crucial role of mass psychology and individual character structure. Particular attention will be given to Reich's examination of the reasons for the failure of revolutionary movements. Ideology as internalized character armor, coupled with mass psychological social control, will be examined with a view to developing counter remedies for direct action and self-help. The "red thread" of his work in the social and political domain will be examined, including his last controversial legal battle with the FDA, and his final functional principles for social action.

Conference Title: Character Transformation: From armored to flowing
Conference Sponsor:
Where: at Esalen Institute, Big Sur, CA

Description:     The following workshop will be conducted by Dr. Richard Blasband and Patricia Frisch, Ph.D. It has been approved for continuing education credits for Clinical Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers

The trap is man's emotional structure, His character structure- Wilhelm Reich

When we are open we experience pleasure, liveliness, and vitality. All too often, however, we are contracted and feel tension, lack of sexual desire, frozen, heavy, trapped, and ill. These symptoms are communications from the
depths of our past rooted in the present in our character structure and body armor. To free up our life energy we must become conscious of our most habitual styles that twist our body/mind into distortions of who we really
are.
This workshop is an intensive, interactive process to help participants restructure their character style at the deepest levels of psychophysical being. The workshop will utilize Wilhelm Reich's techniques of character analysis with breathwork and direct interventions on the body armor. Dr. Richard Blasband, an internationally recognized exponent of Reich's work, and Dr. Patricia Frisch have a combined clinical experience of over fifty
years in this discipline.

Within a dynamic group process individuals can experiment with their structure in bold and profound ways that insist on change. Dreams, guided imagery, and movement will deepen the exploration and provide material for a
trusting exchange within the workshop community. As we shed unnecessary layers of armor and facade we discover our true, naturally sexual and spiritual natures.

5-day Workshop

The Orgone Energy Accumulator
Fifty years ago, the Food and Drug Administration justified its relentless attack on Wilhelm Reich by claiming that orgone energy does not exist and all inventions and instruments governed by its laws are therefore invalid. Yet published data from Reich's twenty years of experimental work belle this assumption and cry out for unprejudiced investigation.
What do we really know about the technology that emerged from Reich's research? What, for example, is the orgone energy accumulator that the FDA was so determined to destroy? Is it an empty box or a valuable medical and scientific tool? How aid it evolve? How does it function? Can it affect living organisms? What role did it play in Reich's work? Is there corroborating evidence for its validity?

Today, more than forty years after Reich's death, these questions continue to hang like clouds obscuring the sun. This conference will seek to dissipate the clouds and help participants to grasp the significance of the orgone energy accumulator and its possible application in our lives - something Reich's enemies may have sensed long ago.

Presentations will be made by a biologist who studied with Reich, an agronomist, and a science historian. Participants will also make an accumulator blanket and listen to an audio recording in which two of Reich's students describe and discuss with him their experience with hostile reactions to the orgone accumulator.

Experts from around the world will discuss subjects such as bacterial-viral
pleomorphism, microscopy of living versus dead tissues and samples,
extremophilles and archaea, and several papers are anticipated to focus
upon Wilhelm Reich's findings on bions and bionous processes in human
disease.

The Proceedings from the First International Symposium on Pleomorphic
Microbes in Health and Disease (held last June in Montreal) is also available.
The book includes chapters based on each talk, ranging from characterization
of pleomorphic microbes in fresh blood from all humans, through the role of
inflammatory reactions In cancer development, to the very origin and
organization of living matter. The book also includes a transcription of the
final round-table discussion, which was one of the highlights of the
conference. During this discussion, ideas and conclusions were manifested
as a synthesis of the many represented areas of expertise.

Conference Announcement:

Pleomorphic Microbes in Health and Disease

The Second International Symposium on "Pleomorphic Microbes in Health and
Disease" will take place in Ashland, Oregon, USA, on October 19 and 20,
2000, under the umbrella of the World Institute of Holistic Therapies, Inc.
Please review the program schedule and fees for attending the symposium on
our web site.
http://www.holgernis.com/conferences//2000/description.html

This annual symposium provides a small, but international forum for
discussion of pleomorphic microbes in human health and disease. The keynote
speakers will focus on microbes that are difficult to grow using standard
clinical or microbiological techniques. This includes several microbes that
are multi-drug resistant, and can survive inside the human host, escaping
clinical detection and therapy. Discussions will also involve the
relationship between host and microbe, including the factors that may
determine whether the microbes take on a more pathogenic role and lead to a
classical infection.

Poster presentations are invited on topics related to the possible roles of
pleomorphic microbes in the development of other diseases, including
diabetes, mutagenesis, Alzheimer's, and heart disease.

The overall goal for the symposium is to facilitate the communication
between basic scientists, clinical researchers, and dark-field
microscopists. There are many opinions on how to view pleomorphic enteric
microbes, ranging from a symbiotic relationship with the host, to a
strictly pathogenic role. Many terminologies have developed, based on
apparently similar observations. The symposium aims at initiating a debate
on these terminologies, leading to the acceptance of a common vocabulary
based on scientific studies. A multi-disciplinary approach is needed to
develop a useful scientific vocabulary in order to gain further credibility
in today's therapeutic strategies. This will provide feedback to funding
agencies and other researchers.

At the meeting in October 2000, talks will address the microbial
composition in blood and tissure in context of Leaky Gut Syndrome. Emphasis
will also be placed on the resulting mal-absorption and the altered blood
habitat. Speakers will be selected to discuss the presence of microbes in
tissue (including breast and prostate) and the possible role in cancer
development.

In addition, there will be a focus on genetic instability. As a result of
the rapid genetic exchange between microbes, we need to seriously
reconsider our definitions of species. It appears that in procaryotes, we
are observing a fluid gene pool. This presents an enormous challenge to
current diagnostic tools.

Dr. James DeMeo will be giving a lecture presentation at the forthcoming
Second International Symposium on Pleomorphism, to be held in Ashland
Oregon on 19-20 October, on the subject of "Contemporary Bion Research".
He will present various microphoto slides from his replication studies of
Wilhelm Reich's bion experiments, to include growing micro-forms from
ultra-filtered and sterilized nutrient preparations (Reich's Experiment 6),
plasmatic flakes from autoclaved and frozen earth-bion water (Reich's
Experiment 20) and bionous forms from incandesced and autoclaved organic
and inorganic materials. A listing of the various speakers, with
presentation titles and biographical information, is posted at the Symposia
web site, as given below.

The Mindshift Institute Presents
A Series of 3 Conversational Evenings:

"The Trance State"
Thursdays
Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9

What is "the trance state?" How did we get into it? What promotes and
maintains the trance humanity is in? What are its consequences? How does
the trance affect our ability to love, our intimate relationships, our family
life and our friendships?

Together, we will look at some of the profound myths that now prevail in
personal life, medicine, science, education, religion, government, economics,
the arts and the media. And we will explore specific, factual information
that will dispel these myths.

The Mindshift institute
Fostering the Development of Life-Positive Knowledge

Mission Statement

The purpose of The Mindshift Institute is to foster the development of life-positive knowledge.
The Institute is a small part of a process which is already unfolding and changing life on Earth.
Our activities will convey the spectrum of thinking that exists in science, medicine, education, consciousness studies and other vital areas of human thought that are now undergoing great transitions.

The participants in THE TRANCE STATE series have a challenging assignment-to
wake up. The Trance is comfortable and familiar and, in the present social
situation, being in The Trance has many benefits. Awakening from The Trance
puts one outside the mainstream and generally causes difficulties in many of
our most important relationships, such as love, work, friendship, and family
life. However, if we are to move forward, it is imperative that we awaken
from The Trance.

What is "the trance state?" How did we get into it? What promotes and
maintains the trance humanity is in? What are its consequences? The series
is comprised of the following:

Oct. 26: Exploring The Trance State
Nov. 2: The Energetic Source of The Trance State
Nov. 9: How The Trance State Affects Our Connection with Nature

During these three evenings, we will look at some of the profound myths that
now prevail in medicine, science, education, religion, government, economics,
the arts and the media. And we will explore specific, factual information
that will dispel these myths. We will also consider how the trance affects
our ability to love, our intimate relationships, our family life and our
friendships.

The series is not intended to devise or promote solutions to the problems we
face. The focus is on recognizing our own resistances-individual as well as
societal-to the powerful new truths that are being discovered, truths that
are vital to our continued existence. What we hope emerges is a vigorous
conversation among those who attend, with all present sharing their insights
into and experiences with what we are calling THE TRANCE STATE.

For more information about these evenings or to register for them, please
call us at 212-721-6785 or email us at Mindshift123@aol.com. Early
registration is recommended since seating will be limited.

Orgone energy is the primordial life energy; the fundamental creative life force long known to people in touch with
nature, speculated about by natural scientists as the universal ether, employed by acupuncturists, and finally
objectified and scientifically demonstrated by the work of the late Wilhelm Reich, M.D.

Through years of experimentation and observation, Reich identified many of the basic properties of the orgone
energy: it fills all space and is everywhere; it's mass free and is the primordial, cosmic energy; it penetrates
matter, it pulsates and is observable and measurable; it has a strong affinity and attraction to/by water; it is
accumulated naturally in the organism by foods, water, breathing, and through the skin. Orgone energy is
negatively entropic - highly charged orgone systems attract lesser charged, energy systems.

Reich discovered a way to collect or 'accumulate' orgone energy from the atmosphere. He developed a special
enclosure, developed from his experiments with the Faraday cage, called an accumulator that is made from layers
of organic materials which absorb and hold the energy, and inorganic materials which attract and then rapidly repel
orgone energy. He found that the inside of a metal-lined enclosure that is layered with organic and inorganic
materials contained a higher concentration of orgone energy which was detectable by a higher temperature reading
    inside the accumulator.

When a person with their own energy field comes into contact with an accumulating device, the two fields make
contact and excite each other, creating a stronger excitation called lumination. Reich found this strong orgonotic
charge to be very beneficial to living systems. It may help to strengthen the immune system, improve circulation,
and raise ones energy level. Investigations have shown that the orgone energy accumulator stimulates the body's
parasympathetic nervous system, inducing relaxation and a feeling of expansion. Orgone radiation is not foreign to
the body. The orgone in the atmosphere is just another form of the same orgone energy within your body. The
accumulator concentrates that energy and helps the body to help itself. See the relevant articles
concerning orgone energy and healing applications.
